my days
I did not really expect to like these works as much as I did when I saw them "live." I'd seen the gallery site and related what I saw to Jane Livingston's "The Paintings of Joan Mitchell" which reproduced a "Sunflowers" owned by John Cheim, and generally saw a relationship to some of my concerns in current work. Also a friend Bill Scott was associated with her and a phase of his work seems related to the Le Grande Vallee series. "Then, Last Time," also reproduced in Livingston, turned out being a stunning countenance to confront. Harold Klunder was there and he also was stunned and smiling, as I was.
Moleskine (mol-a-skeen’-a) is a pop*ular brand of notebook manufactured by Moleskine Srl, an Italian company. Although the name implies otherwise, the notebook is not bound in moleskin, but in oilcloth-covered cardboard. Other distinct features include an elastic band to hold the notebook closed, a sewn spine that allows it to lie flat when opened, rounded corners, a ribbon bookmark and an expandable pocket inside the rear cover. Matisse carried one. Also Hemingway. I carry my moleskine in my wallet where ever I go.
